STORMY NIGHT

Regale the sky tonight with wonder:

Let stream our lantern, glowing spectre,

To shine before the beasts who scurry,

Let Earth resound as giants hurry,

Like beats of drums that flood your hearing

Repeat the phrase, "be brave, no fearing,"

To soldiers drawn from cloudy air and drafted

To play their part in numbers. Courage only acted.

They sweep to earth, each buffeted, blown,

Below to earth--their doom--to drown.

This storm of dirty war tonight

Was only nature's forces' fight

Of thunder, lightning, rain, and wind.

All forces happy homes can end.
